Abstract

By the grace of Allah, it is a great pleasure to introduce this issue of The International Journal on Islamic Applications in Computer Science and Technology

 

The success and the welcome of this Journal by researchers from many countries, gave us great encouragement for continuing issuing in the due time.

This Journal is aimed at publishing original research papers in the field of Islamic Applications in computer science and technology. This field is catching a momentum in the recent years. As a Journal interested in this field, it is the first International Journal of its specific field. As research is growing in this field, we hope that this Journal will be a platform for researchers working in the field to publish their research.

 

This issue contains two papers. The first one is entitled of The Usage of Social Media based on Islamic Revelation.

 

Social media is a technology used by the world community, and especially the Muslim community, it can be used to communicate, share information and news easily and many more. As a result, social media has a role as an agent to help spread the religion of Islam. Various types of social media can be found such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, WhatsApp, and Twitter. All of these must have their own advantages and disadvantages depending on how they are used. The purpose of this study is to discuss the ways of using social media guided by the revelation of Islam, the Quran and Hadith. In conclusion, Muslims who use social media must use it well in order to be a role model for the world community.

 

The second paper is entitled of The Impact of COVID-19 on Cybersecurity

 

COVID-19 pandemic-imposed restrictions on individuals' daily lives and attempted to prevent coronavirus spread and forced many governments to impose social distancing in all sectors, which caused everyone to work remotely. Many challenges have emerged due to the changes that occurred in our lives in 2020. shift to working from home due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which gets a chance of increasing piracy and cyber-attacks by exploiting many vulnerabilities resulting from employees' remote work into their institutions' electronic systems. The research discussed the reasons for a surge in cybercrime during the COVID-19 pandemic and clarified the most affected sector by cyber-attacks during the COVID-19 pandemic. Furthermore, it highlighted the most common cyber-attacks that were carried out during the current period (COVID-19). Also discussed some cyberattacks that target some companies on the pandemic. The research conducted was based on literature reviews and theoretical that defined the reasons for the increased attack through the COVID-19 pandemic. This research reviewed the analytical data that identified the most sector and attack that happened during COVID-19.
