Abstract
By the grace of Allah, it is a great pleasure to introduce the first issue of the first volume of:
The International Journal on Islamic Applications
in Computer Science and Technology
This Journal is aimed at publishing original research papers in the field of Islamic Applications in computer science and technology. This field is catching a momentum in the recent years. As a Journal interested in this field, it is the first International Journal of its specific field. As research is growing in this field, we hope that this Journal will be a platform for researchers working in the field to publish their research.
This issue as a start will contain three papers.
The first paper is entitled
Multi-Languages Hajj Mobile Dictionary, Text and Voice Based
In this paper, mobile dictionary application for Hajj using three different languages is proposed to assist the pilgrims performs their Hajj easily. This paper tries also to utilize voice recognition with electronic dictionary designed for Hajj practices to give more flexibility to the electronic Hajj dictionary.
The second paper is entitled:
Relation between Social Network and Da’wah to Islam
A case study on Jordanian students
This paper focuses on the social network factors which effect serving, and publishing Islam. The main purposes included are: how to make the Islamic information accessible over the world for Muslims, and non-Muslims, clarify the Islamic issues, misunderstanding, and wrong thoughts of non-Muslims about Islam, the effect of the social network system and information quality, and user satisfaction on publishing Islam. This was measured using survey spread over 500 students. The result indicates that great majority of students use Facebook. It shows that social network is highly used as a way for Da’wah. In the part of the social network system and information quality, majority of user think that information from social network needs corrections.

A Semi-Automatic Annotation Tool for Arabic
Online Handwritten Text
This paper presents a semi-automatic tool for annotation Arabic online handwritten documents. A tool provided to automate and simplify document visualization, manipulation and annotation of documents at the character level generating transcription files ready for use by any handwriting recognizer. The tool is a set of interactive user interfaces guiding the user along the whole process and reducing the human effort and time by the activation of smart segmentation utilities offering satisfying performance and allowing intervention for validation.
