Abstract

By the grace of Allah, it is a great pleasure to introduce the second issue of the first volume of:

The International Journal on Islamic Applications in Computer Science and Technology

The success and the welcome of the first issue of this Journal by researchers from many countries, gave us great encouragement for issuing the second issue in the due time. This Journal is aimed at publishing original research papers in the field of Islamic Applications in computer science and technology. This field is catching a momentum in the recent years. As a Journal
interested in this field, it is the first International Journal of its specific field. As research is growing in this field, we hope that this Journal will be a platform for researchers working in the field to publish their research.

This issue contains four papers. The first paper is entitled:

System Architecture for E-auctions that Conforms to Sharia Principles

The paper examines from Muslims’ perspectives the main question that arises pertaining to e-auctions which is the extent of compatibility of this new form of auction with sharia principles. This concern is valid since studies revealed the presence of illegitimate sharia features in the conventional e-auction methodology and raises the demand to fully harmonize its system architecture so that it embodies the Islamic principles. In order to meet sharia requirements, this paper proposes identity verification to avoid anonymous identity, product verification in terms of ownership and permissibility, lawful payment methods, compatible auction and bid charging, and following rightful procedures. The paper calls for Implementing e-auction systems based on the proposed architecture as it can be considered sharia compatible.

The second paper entitled:

Verification of Qur’anic Quotations Embedded in Online Arabic and Islamic Websites

In this paper, a verification algorithm, is proposed in order to verify the authenticity of Qur’anic quotes/verses (including full and partial verses). The system developed was tested, using Qur’an quotes found in online Arabic documents and proved to be effective in detecting any tampering or unintentional mistakes during the dissemination of such documents.

The third paper is entitled:

Ontology Extraction Approach for Prophetic Narration (Hadith) using Association Rules

This paper is concerned with the use of association rules to extract the ontology of prophetic narrations (Hadith). The approach involves investigating the use of association rules to identify frequent item sets over concepts that are related to Islamic jurisprudence (Fiqh) from the Sahih Al- Bukhari documents by computing correspondence relations using the Apriori algorithm. In particular, the semantic structure of the Sahih Al-Bukhari as a knowledge source is exploited to extract a specific III domain ontology, while the conceptual relations embedded in this knowledge source are modeled based on the notion of association rules.

The fourth paper is entitled:

Design a Tacit Knowledge Sharing System

In this paper the effect of Islamic prospective on sharing the tacit knowledge is highlighted. The paper aims to develop a conceptual framework for knowledge sharing from Islamic perspective. The given Model is based on developing Knowledge Circles (KC) which is similar to quality circles. These circles will be the source for the human information storage. This storage will guide the management to reduce the time and the cost. The roles of certain factors that influence knowledge sharing behaviour in industrial organization are Affect-based trust and shared value.
