Abstract

By the grace of Allah, it is a great pleasure to introduce the third issue of the second volume of: The International Journal on Islamic Applications in Computer Science and Technology

The success and the welcome of the first five issues of this Journal by researchers from many countries, gave us great encouragement for continuing issuing in the due time. This Journal is aimed at publishing original research papers in the field of Islamic Applications in computer science and technology. This field is catching a momentum in recent years. As a Journal interested in this field, it is the first International Journal of this specific field. As research is growing in this field, we hope that this Journal will be a platform for researchers working in the field to publish their research.

This issue contains three papers. The first paper entitled: Design Concepts of a Dedicated LCMS for Quran and its Sciences

This paper present design and development concepts of a dedicated Learning Content Management System (LCMS) for courses, trainings, and other learning activities of Quran and its Sciences. There are several non-conventional Learning methods that are specific to Quran related sciences, learning activities such as Tahfidh (Recitation of Quran), Halaqa (Quran study circle), Tajweed (Reading Quran). All the latter learning activities and methods make the development of a dedicated LCMS a must for learning Quran and its sciences. Overall concepts of the LCMS infrastructure is presented in this paper with the different phases involved.

The second paper is entitled: Knowledge Management System for the Islamic Banking Sector In Malaysia

This paper investigates the possible causes of resistance or support among knowledge workers to knowledge sharing (KS) within a project team and organization. Today, banks are beginning to understand the relevance and importance of knowledge management systems and of KS. Similarly, banks are beginning to appreciate knowledge as the most significant and valued asset that leads to effective organizational performance. This research aims to investigate the role of certain factors in organizational culture for the success of KS. Factors such as interpersonal trust and communication among staff, information systems, rewards, and organizational structure play an important role in defining the relationships among staff, creating possibilities for breaking the obstacles to KS in the Islamic banking sector in Malaysia.

The third paper is of the title: K- Means Based algorithm for Islamic document clustering

The aim of this paper is to evaluate the efficiency and accuracy of Arabic Islamic document clustering base on K-means algorithm with three similarity/distance measures; Cosine, Jaccard similarity and Euclidean distance. In order to implement the algorithms, the authors pre-processed the data (document). The pre-processing steps were necessary in order to eliminate noise and keep only useful information so as to boost the performance of documents clustering. Additionally, this paper investigates the effect of using stemming and without stemming words on the accuracy of Arabic Islamic text clustering.
